TILLIS: “If I were you, I would go back, and the only ones who should be the least bit afraid are ones who have primaries still outstanding. The ones who don’t, why would you? I mean, frankly, it’s — to me, it’s a counter — a math issue. If your filing period’s over and you don’t have an opponent, then why should you be afraid of the repercussions? The president may help some members in the general election, but his favorability numbers are so low right now in purple states. I can’t imagine why you’D be running with the president in those states for reelection. It’s no offense to the president. It’s just the reality of the math. You know, if the president’s unpopular in the state of North Carolina, I don’t know if it makes sense for him to go down there and campaign for Michael Whatley.”
