RASKIN: “Well, undoubtedly, we will. But remember, we are the Article I Branch. We have the power over spending, and so we have to assert our spending power to block this. I was glad to see one of our Republican colleagues speaking against it, so it’s not just Democrats already. It’s an utterly lawless plan that is being forwarded, and if our Republican colleagues have any respect for the Constitution and the powers of Congress, they will move to block it, because we know how the Roberts court could take years before they respond to this, and then it’ll be too late. They are acting like an arm of the Republican National Committee under MAGA control. So, Congress has got to stand up for the entire constitutional order.”
