EEOC Sues Chick-fil-A for Firing Worker Who Wouldn’t Work Saturdays for Religious Reasons
TRANSCRIPT:
REPORTER: "The government is suing a a Chick-Fil-A fillet franchisee in Austin over religious discrimination. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says a manager of a restaurant owned by Hach Ttrick was regularly denied Saturdays off. She claims Saturday is the designated Sabbath for her denomination and that she mentioned this in her job interview. She was eventually fired because she refused to accept a lower-paying job with fewer hours and no benefits to keep her Saturdays off. The EEOC says that violates the Civil Rights Act by not making a reasonable accommodation for a religious belief. Hatch Trick and Chick-Fil-A have yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit."
