BALLOU: "Highly unusual, highly concerning. You know, you’re not supposed to disclose ongoing investigations. Obviously, this administration has done that time and time again. It may be possible that there’s an underlying criminal violation here. We don’t know yet. But I think it’s important to understand, even if there is a meritorious prosecution, if it is brought for vindictive, unconstitutional purposes, that prosecution needs to be dismissed. And I do not want to engage in a sort of whataboutism, so I’m using this in a very specific way. Think about Tom Homan, right? You know, the White House border czar are who allegedly accepted $50,000 in cash from an undercover FBI agent. He’s still in office. You know, as far as we know, there’s no current FBI investigation against him. Yet, they continue to go after Democratic politicians and unpopular opponents of the president, suggests that these might be motivated by political rather than underlying objective motivations."
