Trump: ‘Because of the Use of Tariffs, We Have All This Money’

TRUMP: “And nobody can believe the $18 trillion number that we gave you. Because it’s a record for any country, not just here, it’s for any country. And a lot of that had to do with November 5th, but a lot of it had to do with tariffs. We charged tariffs to companies when they come in. A couple of you were just saying to me that you’re getting hurt by China and other countries making a product that’s not as good, but it’s less money. Because of the fact that there were no guards, no safeties for you. And we’ve changed a lot of it. Some have said you’ve absolutely saved our business. But because of the use of tariffs, we have all this money because if they come in and build a business here, if they build their plant here, there are no tariffs. Jobless claims just hit the lowest level since 1969, and more Americans are working today than at any time in the history of our country. So we have more people working today than at any time in the history of our country. (applause) That’s beautiful.”
