LA Mayor Karen Bass: ‘We Need Our FEMA Reimbursement’

BASS: “We need billions of dollars that frankly, I know that standing behind me is our chair of the budget — oh, she just left — Chairwoman Yaroslavsky, who will tell you that if we don’t get our FEMA reimbursement, then we’re talking about that money coming out of the general fund. And that is to the tune of $8 billion. You remember when the president issued his executive order earlier this year, and he said that we had issued no permits. We’ve issued over 2,600 permits for 1,100 properties, 400 homes are currently under — are currently being built right now. We need our FEMA reimbursement. So that was the point of it. It was also an opportunity for me to explain to the president that the chief thing that — the chief struggle that Palisadians are having now is with the banking industry and the insurance industry.”
