VITALI: “It’s exactly right. And unfortunately, the cat’s out of the bag now and it’s never going back in. And I think that’s actually the concern that I hear the most from lawmakers when they are in private and not having to do the partizan dance that they all have to do on both sides. I don’t know anyone who’s like, truly comfortable with this, but both of them have deluded themselves into thinking that the other side started it, and so they have to be the ones to finish it. The only people who lose here are the voters, because I don’t know how voters are going to understand if maps are changing until the last minute, when their ballots go out, am I still voting in the same district for the same person that I thought I was? I mean, it is a mess already, so that’s just one piece of it."
