Martha MacCallum: ‘Really Hard for Me to Imagine How They Can Repeat’ the WHCD at the Same Venue
EXCERPT:
MACCALLUM: “You know, I mean, I’m not a security expert nor am I former Secret Service, but just as a regular civilian and somebody who was there, it’s really hard for me to imagine how they can repeat this at that venue. And honestly, it’s always been a little hard for me to understand how they pull this off. You think about the fact that when you do a State of the Union address, you have designated survivors who are outside the building. There was almost everyone in the chain of command and who would replace the president was inside that venue the other night. So, I think it’s very, very difficult. I think they’re going to have to do it in a very different way. I don’t think that venue should hold 2,500 people. You can’t get around the tables, as evidenced by people climbing, the security guards climbing over the tables. I’m shocked that the fire marshals allow that number of people in that room to begin with. So I think, you know, when Susie Wiles meets with Secret Service, they’re going to get creative and figure out a better way, a better way to do it.”
