Prosecutor Dismisses ICE Protest Cases, Says Arrestees Shouldn’t ‘Bear the Burden’

‘Local law enforcement arrested 6 people’

EXCERPT:

REPORTER: "This morning, state officials are reacting after Chittenden County State Attorney Sarah George decided not to charge the protesters who were arrested during the March 11th ICE protest. Local law enforcement arrested six people and George dismissed three of the cases and referred the others to a restorative process, saying the 6 protesters shouldn’t bear the burden of the harm caused that day. The Vermont Department of Public Safety says the decision not to prosecute will encourage people to interfere with arrests and could change how they respond to similar incidents."
