‘The Treasury Department sanctioned the tanker last July’

EXCERPT:

GRIFFIN: “For the first time, the U.S. Navy intercepted one of Iran’s sanctioned tankers in international waters in the Bay of Bengal between India and Southeast Asia. the Pentagon warning: ‘International waters are not a refuge for sanctioned vessels.’ On April 6th, the MV Tifani loaded 1.9 million barrels of Iranian crude oil from Kharg Island and was trying to transport that oil to China before the U.S. Navy intervened overnight. The Treasury Department sanctioned the crude oil tanker last July. The State Department said twice in recent months the vessel had loaded Iranian oil in ship-to-ship transfers with U.S. sanctioned Iranian flag tankers while conducting ‘dark activity’ near Singapore. U.S. Central Command says it has turned around 28 ships, most of them oil tankers, traveling to or from Iran since the blockade began.”
