Robot Manufacturer: ‘U.S. Supply Chain Just Doesn’t Exist,’ We’re Forced to Import Everything

‘That’s the current state of things’

EXCERPT:

BEARD: “At Standard Bots, we have designed almost all the parts that go in the robot, and we've had to do that because the U.S. supply chain just doesn't exist, and we want made-in-America robot arms. We're currently working on integrating all the different parts of the manufacture of the robot from casting metal, where we buy bars of metal locally and melt them down into the shape to milling them and heat treating them and powder coating them. And so we've had, because the U.S. supply chain doesn't exist, we're having to take on even melting metal to make a made-in-America U.S. robot.”
