Matt Whitlock on Virginia Voting Its New Congressional Map: Dems Want to Throw out the Fairest Map in the Country
TRANSCRIPT:
WHITLOCK: “What’s important to understand is, just about five years ago, Virginians were told the only way to protect democracy in this Commonwealth was to support an independent redistricting process. And that process led to the fairest map in the country. There’s been a lot of studies that have shown this is the fairest map in the country. And now we’re being told by Democrats the only way to protect democracy from special interest is to throw out that map and replace it by one that was solely funded by out-of-state special interests and promoted by $70 million from those out-of-state special interests, many of which also take foreign dark money funding, and it’s one of the most craven, extreme partisan exercises I’ve seen in my entire career in politics.”
