Gallagher: Texas Gov. Abbott Threatens to Cut Millions of Dollars in State Funding to Three Major Cities If They Refuse to Cooperate with ICE

‘Houston’s mayor has set up a special meeting for next week to reconsider this policy’

RUSH EXCERPT:
TAYLOR: "Houston may not be alone. With governor Abbott sending warning letters to Austin and Dallas saying they could also lose millions if officers don’t comply with ICE Dallas has nearly $90 million in grants on the line and Austin, $2.5 million. The letter states if the city fails to comply the governor’s public safety office could terminate grants and the city must return all funds. And that pressure, it seems to be working because Houston’s mayor has said up a special meeting for next week to reconsider this policye over in Dallas. They said they are going to comply, and Austin’s mayor says he won’t play into political theater but says his officers will comply with the state requirements."
