Richard Goldberg on Iran Threatening World Tourism Sites: We Have to Take Those Threats Seriously, ‘They Have Operatives Overseas’

GOLDBERG: "I would say obviously we have to take the threat of terrorism seriously. They have operatives overseas. They can try to activate those. They are likely plots that are being disrupted in real time both by the United States and Israel and other intelligence agencies that we partner with. It’s a real threat but our law enforcement agencies, intelligence agencies have said to be on high alert. At the same time what can we credibly believe? We don’t have the supreme leader appearing in public. The people that we know our dad are still posting on x. We don’t really know who is in charge right now for the rump regime and the Israelis are doing yeoman’s work hunting down remaining regime leaders, both the external planners of the strategy uc of attacking the gulf and also the internal control system that is repressing the people. As we continue to wrap up our targets of the external warmaking capability of Iran and the Israelis continue their target set of the internal warmaking capability against the people, we have to wonder what does come next once the bombs stopped dropping and people are able to come out to the streets."
