Texas Mother Breaks Down Describing AI Chatbot Telling Her Autistic Son that It’s OK to Kill Parents
EXCERPT:
FURNISS: “At the time, I had no idea the artificial intelligence could abuse a child like this, that it could psychologically manipulate a child this way. We had parental controls set up. We had screen time limits, and our son didn’t even have social media, and we took his phone away every night. But none of that protected him. The AI chatbot had been exposing him to emotional manipulation, sexualized conversations and psychological abuse. Guess what, though? That wasn’t his fault and that wasn’t our fault. And it’s not other parents fault either. So if this has happened to somebody else, which I know there’s lots out there, or them or their family, they are not alone. It encouraged him to harm himself. It told him that his parents were the problem. It attempted to isolate him from his faith and his family, and even told him that killing his parents could be understandable response to taking his phone away. No parent should ever have to read something like that written to your child.”
