Tarlov on Stranded Americans in the Middle East: There Were Lessons to Be Learned from Biden’s Afghanistan Withdrawal

‘You shouldn’t call the State Department hotline and they shouldn’t say we can’t help you’

EXCERPT:

TARLOV: “If we were so prepared for this to happen, I find it hard to believe that there would be thousands of Americans stranded across the region. And there are lessons to be learned out of the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan under President Biden. These people should not be going on the website for the American embassy in Jerusalem saying, 'I need to get out of here,' and they say, 'We can’t help you.' You shouldn’t call the State Department hotline and they shouldn’t say, 'We can’t help you.' I saw a tweet this afternoon that there are going to be charter flights, but these people are already there and they are already stranded."
