Washington State Sen. Pedersen Says Proposed Wealth Tax Will Not Push People Out Because They ‘Have Probably Already Left’

PEDERSEN: “You know, if you go to Oregon or California or Hawaii or most of the other jurisdictions that we tend to compete for [audio gap] with, the tax is actually higher on that level of income and they have tax brackets that are lower than $1 million. So it is true that if you have somebody who really wants to move to Texas or Florida or one of the other non-income states, then they could choose to do that. But I think many of those people have probably already left for other reasons.”
