Keith Ellison on Influencer Politics: ‘Paid Political Marketing Is Something We Need To Be Concerned About’
RUSH EXCERPT:
Ellison: “It’s just, it’s everybody should just know if you ask how low can they go lower than you think. So we should all, we all need to be on guard. This is everybody’s job. Yes, this is our job, but it’s really everyone’s job, and you know, there’s other things we got to be on the alert for. I mean, we’ve been hearing a lot, I’ve been hearing a lot, but what you guys think about them paying rappers and other folks and offering them pardons and they’re not disclosing that they’re saying what they’re saying because they’re being compensated. So this is, this is the whole area that I’ve been really on my mind a lot about paid political marketing. Paid political influencer marketing. Something we need to be concerned about because a lot of these folks, they don’t even need to say vote for Trump because they know people won’t do it But what they could say is None of these elections really matter anyway. They could say, well, you know, I don’t want, like, either one of these parties, no good. That kind of talk you know, uh, can, can swing an election. We saw how close things were in, in, in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, we’ve got to be on the alert for that because in most states it says you have to, if you’re getting compensated for a political message, you got to say, paid for by. Some of these people are not doing that. So that’s one of those things we got to be on the alert for, and we’re gonna have to use a lot of public education to make all the, the, the, the consumer of news, a little bit more suspicious.”
