Fmr. BBC Anchor: To Say that Ex-Prince Andrew’s Arrest Is a ‘Crisis Moment Doesn’t Begin to Cover It’

‘Honestly, I am stunned by what‘s happened today’

EXCERPT:

MAITLIS: “Honestly, I am stunned by what‘s happened today. This doesn‘t happen in our country. It is virtually unheard of. The last time a royal was arrested was King Charles I in 1647, and he was beheaded. And that was briefly the end of the monarchy. So, to say that this is a crisis moment, I think doesn‘t begin to cover it. Andrew, no longer Prince Andrew, is still eighth in line to the throne. He still lives in a royal residence on a royal estate. It‘s not the one that he used to live out. It‘s not the one next to Windsor castle, but he is essentially still in line to the throne. So I think that gives you the perspective, really, of just the gravity of what has happened today.”
