Dem Strategist: The Minn. Fraud Scandal Has ‘All the Signs of a Cover-Up’
EXCERPT:
EPSTEIN: “No. I hate to say that, John. I think this has, regrettably, all the signs of a cover-up. Minnesota officials were made known about this fraud as early as 2013, that’s 13 years ago. There was an audit in 2018 that showed that as much as 50 percent of the Feeding Our Future program was going to fraud. It seems one of two possibilities for local officials who were notified about this. They were either dumb, stupid, or they turned a blind eye because they thought the money train should keep flowing because it benefited them politically and the votes would keep on coming. There is even a picture, John, of Governor Walz giving an award, an award for refugee, some refugee program to one of the fraudsters in the Feeding Our Future program. So, it seems impossible to me that local officials didn’t know anything about it. All all they really did before this year was a few sort of perfunctory investigations and prosecutions. They didn’t really tackle the problem.”
