Sen. Ron Johnson: Dem Governors and Mayors Are Putting ICE Agents at Risk
EXCERPT:
JOHNSON: "Well, Democrats want to defund ICE and they want to defund DHS, just like they want to defund the police. But last year, the Department of Homeland Security provided Congress a tally of the number of illegal immigrants with criminal records that were at large, that were not detained, 650,000. And of that’s 650,000, there were 15,000 people, illegal immigrants convicted of homicide, 20,000 convicted of rape, of sexual assault. So that’s the enormous mess that the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Patrol, ICE is trying to clean up, and Democrats and sanctuary cities and people like Governor Waltz and Mayor Frey not only don’t want to cooperate, but they are actively resisting them and putting those agents at risk. So that’s what Democrats are pushing right now. They want to defund ICE. They want to make it almost impossible for ICE to do its job. Of the ten demands, probably the most obnoxious is they want to require judicial warrants, which is completely unworkable. Our immigration laws have always been enforced by the executive branch through administrative law judges. We have, again, literally millions of, you know, cases that need to be adjudicated. Our Article 3 courts simply can’t handle that and Democrats know it. That’s their sneaky way of basically neutering ICE."
