Sol Wisenberg on Tim Walz and Jacob Frey: Trump May Be Diffusing the Situation by Just Investigating Two Public Servants for Obstruction

WISENBERG: "She is going out on a limb by I a saying don’t throw things at agents. What peacemaker she is. What Mike said, take a look, I encourage everybody to take a look at title 10 United States code section 253 if Trump wanted to, if you look at the language of that statute, he could invoke the insurrection act. It would be a very, very controversial move. But, certainly, if you look at the language of that statute, which talks about preventing any combination or conspiracy that obstructs the laws of the United States and enforcement of the laws of the United States. And the president gets to make that determination. It’s not even completely clear whether or not that would be subject to judicial review. So, in one sense, he is actually potentially diffusing the situation by just investigating two public servants for obstruction. People need to be need to be very careful. You know, President Trump is blessed by his enemies, sometimes."
