Rep. Dan Goldman: ‘Very Little Difference’ Between Trump Capturing Maduro and Putin Capturing Zelenskyy
RUSH EXCERPT:
Goldman: “Look, I think you’re going to hear a lot of so-called legal experts grasping at straws to try to justify this. The the hypocrisy that we were just talking about also applies to this actual mission, this operation. Donald Trump is saying that Nicolas Maduro is such a terrible tyrant and an illegitimate leader who is violating all sorts of laws, including American laws, that we, the United States, need to violate our own laws and our own constitution in order to remove him. We lose all credibility. We lose the moral high ground to people like Vladimir Putin or to China as they threaten Taiwan. When we go into other countries and just usurp power by force. That is not the democratic way. That is not the American way, and that is not the message that we are trying to extend all around the world. What is the difference between Donald Trump just flying in with the military and capturing and disappearing Nicolas Maduro than if Vladimir Putin were to do that to Volodymyr Zelenskyy? There’s very little difference, and it is really dangerous, really, really dangerous for Donald Trump to be playing these games. Whether it is a wag the dog thing from all the other problems that he has here at home, including the Epstein files or not. This is not something that we can allow. And it is time for my Republican colleagues to finally stand up to Donald Trump and to say, enough is enough. You have violated the Constitution. It is time that we hold you to account. I am on the Judiciary Committee, the homeland security committee. I welcome them to join us in”
