ZELENY: “The reason this is different, the reason the location in this matters so critically here is Qatar is an absolutely essential ally to the U.S., so the president was visiting America’s largest airbase there about three and a half months ago. I was with him on the airbase there at the Al Udeid base, and this is something that if this upsets the Qataris — yes, it sounds like the U.S. gave them a heads up at the last minute — but if this unravels the relationship the U.S. has with the Qataris, this is a very big deal indeed.”
