Andrea Mitchell: IDF Qatar Strike Is ‘the End of the Road for Negotiations of a Cease Fire’
EXCERPT:
MITCHELL: “There had been a warning just 48 hours ago from President Trump saying, 'It’s now or never, this is your last warning,' to Hamas. And that was certainly an ominous warning. He has said things before, but this seemed to be the end of the road for negotiations of a ceasefire. And there seems to be tacit support for this very controversial operation in Gaza City, which has been initially opposed by many in the IDF, including the head of Israel’s army, fiercely opposed it at a 10-hour Security Council meeting, but eventually overruled in an unprecedented action by the prime minister and his allies, two very conservative key members of his coalition. So this — the IDF is exhausted. Many of the reservists, you know, have been at war way too long. The Hamas — excuse me, the hostage families are distressed. And there’s widespread disagreement in Israel because they feel that this is a death warrant for what is believed to be 20 surviving hostages and for the American families here, two in particular, to get the remains of their sons who they know have been killed, but they are desperate to get them back."
