FBN: Trump Sent SEAL Team 6 Into North Korea to Plant a Listening Device, Mission Fell Apart After Killing Civilians on a Fishing Boat — Per NYT
EXCERPT:
VARNEY: “On a cold winter night in early 2019, members of SEAL Team 6, the same group that took down Bin Laden, approached a deserted beach in North Korea. Their mission was to go ashore and plant a sophisticated electronic device that would allow America to listen in on Kim Jong-un’s private investigations. That would be an intelligence coup of major proportions. At a time, Kim was conducting nuclear talks with President Trump. It was so risky and sensitive that it had to go to the president for approval. Well, Trump gave the green light and the SEALs began their approach, nigh vision goggles, black wetsuits and all. They were badly wrong. A North Korean boat appeared. It seemed to be searching the ocean by flashlight as if they’d seen something. The SEALs thought they'd been spotted. They opened fire. Everyone on the North Korean boat was killed. The mission was called off. Until now, nothing about it has been reported. The Times is also reporting on a 2005 SEAL Team mission inside North Korea that was successfully completed. It’s the first we’ve heard about that one too. Apart from making fascinating reading, there are issues here. Key members of Congress who deal with intelligence were not notified about the 2019 mission. The Times says lack of notification may have violated the law. The report shows the level of risk that President Trump was prepared to take. The mission could have degenerated into a hostage situation if discovered, it would be certainly an international incident, and the North Koreans would have gained a diplomatic triumph. Trump took the risk. And perhaps most important, should this kind of reporting on a high-level security story be encouraged? Secrets have been revealed. Kim Jong-un now knows for sure that we will go to great lengths to figure out what he's up to. Right or wrong, it’s out there now.”
