Jason Riley on the Redistricting War: Trump Is Right, ‘No One Is Acting on Principle Here’

‘This is about exercising raw political power, I don’t think it is good for our politics’

RUSH EXCERPT:
RILEY: "[Laughter] Looks of it did not work they would probably stop doing it. And on both side to do do it, President Trump was about that. No one is acting on principle here. This is about exercising raw political power. I don’t think it is good for our politics. Essentially you have the map mapmakers and more controlled than the voters when it boaters to picking candidates. Andit is gotten worse and worse over the years. I was looking at some data that said about wondered 25 competitive erases a race that is decided by five points or less is considered competitive. About 125 those in the early 2000’s blaster blasters down to than 35. The problem is getting worse it’s hard to know what is to do some states said let’s let a bipartisan commission do this but if they don’t like the results they just ignore them. New York is on that, California has done that I don’t think it is popular with voters we are really asking politicians to self perform here and they don’t have much of an incentive to do so. Paul: they are not known for that self reflection either."
