Steve Hilton: Trump Set the Red Line for Iran, But Unlike Previous Leaders He Did Not Ignore It

‘He said he wants peace, but he’s also said, very clearly, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and that is part of peace’

EXCERPT:

HILTON: “Only he could make the decision and he made the decision, and he made it after giving Iran every opportunity to avoid this. They didn’t and he made the decision, unlike previous leaders who set red lines and then ignored them. And what you are seeing here, I think, is exactly why so many people saw President Trump as a breath of fresh air. He’s not an ideologue, never has been. He always has been a problem-solving, pragmatic leader who just wants to fix the problem whatever it is, without recourse to ideology. He’s never been jingoistic and gung ho about this. He said he wants peace, but he’s also said, very clearly, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and that is part of peace. He has acted on that. And whatever uncertainty there may be, and there’s a lot of uncertainty about what comes in the days and weeks ahead, one thing is really clear tonight: that it’s certain that America now projects strength around the world and every regime that wants to cause trouble around the world, every dangerous regime or potential dangerous regime knows that when President Trump speaks, he means it and he will act on it and follow through. That is a huge positive result, not just for all us here but for the whole world.”
