State Dept. Spox: ‘We Can Confirm the Death of a U.S. Citizen in Ukraine’

BRUCE: “Yes, we are aware of last night’s attack on Kyiv, which resulted in numerous casualties, including the tragic death of a U.S. citizen. We condemn those strikes and extend our deepest condolences to the victims and to the families of all those affected. The president in the recent past has made his thoughts clear about striking the civilian areas in that regard. And just to reiterate again, which is that the thread throughout all of the work that we do is the Department has no higher priority than the safety and security of U.S. citizens abroad. And we can confirm the death of a U.S. citizen in Ukraine and we stand ready to provide all possible consular assistance, and out of respect to the family during this obviously horrible time, we have no further details to offer in that regard.”
