Walter Isaacson: Trump’s Not Trying to Solve the Problem with Criminal Illegal Aliens, He’s Trying to Create Tension
EXCERPT:
ISAACSON: "I think a lot of things that President Trump does, you have to say, is it being done to solve a problem or is it being done to inflame things? And whether it's taking on Harvard, is he really trying to make Harvard better or is he going to inflame things and make it worse and turn it into performative art? Symone just said he looks for excuses to inflame tension. So by sending in the National Guard and then the Marines in a somewhat, I won't say unprecedented, but it's not usual that you nationalize the National Guard without the permission of the governor on things where it's not clearly necessary, I think in doing it, it's clear, just like with his immigration policy, he's not trying to solve the problem of immigrants here who are committing crimes, he is here to play and create tension. And, you know, I think there will be a hunger at some point for people to say, 'You know, we can solve these problems. We don't have to inflame them.'"
