Speaker Johnson: If the Bill Isn’t Passed, Every American Will Receive the Largest Tax Increase in the History of the Country

The tax cuts and jobs act from 2017, the people that benefited most from that were the lowest income Americans and it was households that made between $20,000, $30,000 a year annually had the biggest benefit from the tcja. The people making $40,000 or less had their best tax benefits in over 40 years. Go back and look at the statistics. What we are doing right now is by making the tax cuts permanent, we are preventing the largest tax increase in history. Kristen, if we don’t get this bill passed, every American will receive the largest tax increase in the history of the country at the end of the year when the tcja expires and don’t forget it, this is the vehicle to do it."
