STEWART: “We have a statement from the U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer. He has posted on X. He says: ‘The scenes in Liverpool are appalling. My thoughts are with all those injured or affected and I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident.’ He says: ‘I’m being kept updated on developments and ask that we give the police the space they need to investigate.’ The fact that the prime minister is being kept up to date on development shows just how severe and significant this incident is, and we are expecting a press conference from Merseyside Police in just a couple of hours, so perhaps we’ll get more information then.”
