Sykes: This Story About Comey’s Threats Against Trump Is Absurd and Idiotic
RUSH EXCERPT:
SYKES: "Yes. And look, you you highlighted some real threats. This story about Jim Comey is not a real threat. We need to keep two things in our heads at the same time. One, this is absurd and it is idiotic. And I want to use the word BS about it. But on the other hand, it’s also ominous and is intended to be chilling. It’s ominous because you do have high officials in the us government who are now talking about jailing somebody who Donald Trump does not like. It’s this the revenge tour that Donald Trump is on in his second presidency is designed not simply to punish his critics and his enemies, but it is to make them afraid. It’s to make other people think twice. Should I say anything? Should I make a joke? Should I write this op ed piece? Should I should I make this commentary on, on on television? So this is ridiculous. It’s absurd. It’s hypocritical. We have lots of MAGA influencers who’ve used 86 before. This is this shouldn’t even rise to the level of comment. And yet here you have the national security adviser, I mean, the I’m sorry, the director of national intelligence talking about locking up the former director of CIA for something that does not rise to the level of any sort of a credible threat. It’s an indication, though, how they are looking for any pretext to go after people. And I think this is part of the world that we’re living in. People are asking themselves, okay, what what charge might they Trump up? What sort of an accusation might they levy against us? And what will it mean to me and my family if I am investigated, if I have to have lawyers, if I have to go in and testify under oath, if FBI director, if FBI agents or Secret Service agents who work for Donald Trump show up at my door and begin asking me questions. So this is absurd. It’s ridiculous. It’s idiotic. And yet it is also ominous. And it is chilling that they would do something like this."
