Obama Addresses Brussels Attack ... Via ESPN Interview from Havana
President Obama -- who's been criticized for spending just 51 seconds addressing today's terrorist attacks in Belgium -- spoke again about the atrocity this afternoon, this time with ESPN.
The president is attending the game with Raul Castro, Cuba's communist president.
Here's the exchange:
REPORTER: “It's a pleasure to have you here. And I think before we even get into the baseball and the experience, this has been a very difficult day for the country, for Belgium, and I figured it would be an opportunity to address the many millions who are watching.”
OBAMA: “I appreciate that. I had a chance to talk to the Belgian prime minister this morning right after the explosion had happened and this is just one more example of why the entire world has to unite against these killers. the notion that any political agenda would justify the killing of innocent people like this is something that's beyond the pale. We will continue with the 60 nations going after ISIL. In the meantime, obviously our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been lost and hoping for a speedy recovery for those who have been injured.”
