APPLEBAUM: "The only thing that has changed is Trump‘s rhetoric about Ukraine. He, he suddenly, um, you know, moved I actually don‘t know whether it was really about the rare earth, or the supposed, uh, mineral deal or whether it was something he heard in his conversation with Putin. I mean, Trump has made clear all of his career that he doesn‘t like allies. He doesn‘t respect allies, he has always had an attraction to autocratic leaders. Um, maybe Putin talked him into thinking that the war that he should take different sides. I mean, it‘s an extraordinary moment. As I say, nothing has changed except the way Trump is talking."
