Mike Gallagher: Trump’s DoD Should Be on a ‘War Footing,’ Prepare for 2027 Taiwan Invasion by China

‘Put the Pentagon on a war footing and fire anybody that gets in his way’

EXCERPT:

GALLAGHER: "Well, 2027 is the day that Chairman Xi Jinping has set — or rather General Secretary Xi Jinping has set for his military to be ready to invade Taiwan by force if necessary. Who knows if he'll actually launch it on that day. That happens to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army founding. But we are in the window of maximum danger. The conventional balance of military hard power continues to deteriorate. Our navy is getting smaller at the same time that China has built the biggest navy in the world, and so we have to operate under the assumption that Xi Jinping is serious. If we've learned anything from the war in Ukraine, it's that when a dictator tells you they want to do something, even if it seems outlandish from a western or an American perspective, you have to take that threat seriously because in societies like theirs, a Marxist/Leninist-led society, they’re willing to endure far more pain and they'd be willing to throw lives at this problem. So we need to be moving heaven and earth. Donald Trump's secretary of defense needs to move heaven and earth to put hard power in Xi Jinping’s path before it’s too late. The only way to preserve peace, to prevent a war, is to put the Pentagon on a war footing and fire anybody that gets in his way."
