Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Criticizes Biden’s Border EO: ‘I Am Disappointed’
‘There are better ways to do this’
EXCERPT:
DIAZ BARRAGAN: "I am very worried. I am very concerned. And I'm disappointed that this is a direction that the president has gone in. What effectively it is, is we're talking about turning people away at the southern border so that they don't have a right to apply for asylum when they hit certain numbers, it's 2,500. If you take a look at when the last time, the number was below 2,500, it's been a very long time. And if you implemented this at the beginning of the Biden presidency, you would have had border effectively shut down for the purposes of asylum almost all but a month or two. And this is America. In the U.S. we have a legal right to apply for asylum.”
