Rand Paul: I Will Oppose 6 Spending Bills with Every Fiber of My Being
EXCERPT:
PAUL: "Well, these are bloated big government bills that borrow money. When you add them all up, they'll borrow about $1.5 trillion. I'm alarmed at the rate of accumulation of debt and so I can't support this level of spending. It isn't so much about one item here or there, it's about the overall spending this bankrupting this country. I'm not alone in this. Federal Reserve Chairman, Jamie Dimon of Chase, all these different people saying, 'Gosh, we're alarmed at how much debt we're accumulating so quickly.' We've -- we're accumulating about a trillion dollars every three months. This is a threat to our currency. It's predictable. We have known it's coming and it's getting worse. And so I'm not voting for any of this spending. I will only vote if you want to reduce spending. And it's disappointing that Republicans are going along with Democrats, not only the establishment leadership, Republicans in the Senate, but even the new speakers going along with this. They're going along with hundreds and hundreds of earmarks. We got all kinds of crazy little things that people are getting for their districts again. This is a real step backwards, and I will oppose it with every fiber of my being."
