‘If You Want to Talk to Us, You Know Our Phone Number’: Gordon Chang on the Message the U.S. Should Send to China

CHANG: "The problem is that the military-to-military communications are really overrated because the Chinese do not answer the phone when they do not want to. We have seen this in crisis after crisis with China where we have all of these military hotlines set up and communication channels. And so really the point is we should not be chasing after China to establish these hotlines and these communications. What we should be saying to China is, look, if you want to talk to us, you know our phone number but we are not going to expand capitol to establish a hotline that you will not use when it is needed."
