Keane on the Israel War Strategy: They Will Conduct Clearing Operations

KEANE: "Well, certainly their national leadership signed a tough mission to the Israeli military and that is — to rengd or to Hamas military and terrorist organization ineffective in term of its capabilities, obviously, to change the political epghtty of Hamas governing Gaza. So this operation is characterized being slow, deliberate they were encircling Gaza as an example of that and clearing operations inside of Gaza certainly focusing on where most of that military infrastructure and leaders are, and that’s in this extensive and comprehensive tunnel complex. And obviously, they will go very slowly and dealing with this because the — the Hamas terrorist can pop up at any place and they really need 360-degree situational awareness. Paul, we already know that given casualties that have taken place right now, in just the first week of the war, that’s twice as number of casualty days that they have experienced experience past and it gives you a concern because this war will likely go on for weeks for sure. But many months more likely — and that is upper most in their minds is number of casualties they may sustain through this operation."
