El Paso Mayor: We Are Thankful to Sec. Mayorkas, FEMA for Providing Millions of Dollars to Handle Biden’s Border Crisis
EXCERPT:
LEESER: "Well, the city of El Paso couldn't do it on their own. It’s an impossibility that we would be able to fund these kinds of millions and millions of dollars. So, we've been very thankful to Secretary Mayorkas, FEMA, that's actually given us the funding to move forward. But we do understand that funding may end and it would be an impossibility for the city like El Paso to be able to do that and make sure that people are not on the street and we continue to protect the safety of our community and also our visitors. So it’s important that we continue to be partners with the federal government to help us fund an immigration system that’s totally broken, that really needs a lot of help moving forward. Didn’t break yesterday. Didn’t break a year ago. It’s been broken for a long time. We need to move forward on that in a nonpartisan way of fixing the immigration system."
