Ash Carter: We Are Not Waging a ‘Fight with Muslims or Islam’
STARR: "Help us understand India's reaction to the proposal of Donald Trump regarding people of the Islamic faith?"
PARRIAR: "I think your question to me is a potential for a nuclear bomb. (Laughter) I will not comment on what is being talked about in the U.S., but as far as India is concerned, we believe that we are the second largest Muslim population. And we [indecipherable] and we believe that everyone has equal opportunity and equal rights. Yes, there are small pockets of extremism, radicalization, but there are too few to treat different sections of society differently. In India, we have equal rights for everyone and we do not look to our communities with the suspicion. Those who are radicalized are different issue. We taken them separately, but they exist."
CARTER: "In the fight against ISIL, this is not the fight with Muslims or Islam; it's not as they would like to say westernizing the conflicts in Iraq and Syria. This is an extremist, violent movement which threatens America and needs to be defeated, and we are working on accelerating the defeat of ISIL. That's the important thing."
