Lt. Colonel Tony Shaffer Debunks New York Times Narrative on Benghazi
MORRIS: “Why is the Administration, they have been since the very beginning on not just this conflict, but others as well, why are they so against calling -- saying that al-Qaeda was involved in this or even other attacks? Does it bend with their narrative?”
SHAFFER: “Well, two primary reasons. First off is the narrative doesn't fit. At the time if you recall, Clayton, when they were going through this during the election time, they were saying al-Qaeda is on the run. Clearly if al-Qaeda is able to launch a concerted, well-planned attack at the very time they're saying they're on the run, that destroys the narrative. Secondly, this calls attention to the larger, broader flawed policy. Let’s remember that President Obama, as did Hillary Clinton, both said that the Libyan conflict would be quick and kinetic. And I was right here on the network saying; no, it won't be back when it first happened. Many of us predicted the chaos you see now will be what happened, and that's another thing they don't want to draw attention to. Third, and I think most importantly, now the instability there has become a source for other radical groups to get involved. For example, the Muslim Brotherhood is now involved in Benghazi, stirring up trouble there again. By the way, the Muslim Brotherhood -- my organization, the London Center for Policy Research is going to be working to get Congress to declare the Brotherhood a terrorist organization like Egypt just did. This is why they don't want to talk about this. The region is inherently more unstable now than it ever has been before.”
