Petraeus on Biden Leaving at Least 165K Afghan Allies Behind: ‘Reports of Trying Just Are Not Satisfactory Anymore’

‘What we have to do is do’

EXCERPT:

PETRAEUS: "Well, these reports of trying just are not satisfactory anymore, Andrea. What we have to do is do. The State Department itself reported over 70,000 former battlefield interpreters who were left behind. And it’s not just they who are entitled to a special immigrant visa, but their family members. So you’re talking at least well over 165,000 Afghans for whom we have a moral obligation. We need to meet that obligation. It's no longer enough to say, well, the lily pads to which we take them are full or this or that. We just need to get the assets into the locations and the positions that can expedite this process. A year is far too long to have gotten a very modest number out of there. And when we have sought to do that, we have been able to do this. We just need to get serious about, again, meeting what truly is a moral obligation for the United States of America."
