CNN: 3,000 U.S. Troops Headed to Afghanistan as Country Begins To Collapse
‘It’s going to be a messy two to three weeks’
RUSH EXCERPT:
PATON WALSH: “I hear more noises today about the possibility of some kind of diplomacy in the next few days to try and make that avoidable. To be sure there isn’t a brutal street fight, over 6 million people’s homes in the capital city there. That’s what we risk in the future in the next weeks. The U.S. Marines, 3,000 of them will land in the airports certainly today, tomorrow even, and their presence will be facility across the capital, a security blankets of sorts, but it’s going to be a messy two to three weeks of diplomats getting out, and loyal Afghans, tens of thousands to take to refuge. Extraordinary time ahead.”
