Debbie Stabenow: Payroll Tax Cut Is ‘a Nonstarter’

‘It doesn’t make any sense’

EXCERPT:

STABENOW: "You know, Katy, it’s great to be with you. And I have to say I really think this is a nonstarter, I don’t see the support on either the Democratic or Republican side. It doesn’t make any sense when so many people don’t have a payroll right now, first of all. And when we look at this, the House passed the Heroes Act a few months ago now, the Senate should have acted before July 4th and leaving town for two weeks. Now we’re in spot where, you know, we’re not debating a stimulus package, it’s a survival package. The end of this week, protections for people who haven’t been able to pay their housing payment goes away. 30% of Americans didn’t make their July housing payment and protections go away and they can be evicted at the end of the week.”
