GREELEY: "I will say one thing that's good about America. There are two things that drive labor force participation. One of them is all the policies we've been talking about. The other is culture. Culturally, we’re better off than the United Kingdom and Germany and a lot of other developed economies. Italy. It is more acceptable for women to work here. The workload between men and women at home and at work. We’re closer to countries like Sweden and Denmark than we are countries like the U.K. The real difference in terms of the child penalty, the way women’s income drops after having a child, has to do with policy. Again, it all comes back to what we’ve been talking about for years, which is why is child care so expensive?"
