“They [leaders] should be saying that we are going to do all that, that we can to work together, to work together with each other and work together with the community ... They’re supposed to come and heal it and bring it closer together, so it’s very unfortunate that this is what now the community has to now negotiate what the politicians are doing, and at the same time trying to heal, and at the same time trying to have reform. And what we’re seeing is people are not fighting cops, they’re fighting injustice ... So we’re getting caught up in, 'This is about cops.' This is about injustice and brutality and racism. This is about big global things. So I think we need to be careful not to get in the rabbit hole with these political games.”
