Allie Beth Stuckey Interviews Ocasio-Cortez in Parody Video
STUCKEY: "Alexandria, thanks for being here."
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "Thank you, thank you for having me."
STUCKEY: "Do you have any experience that qualifies you for this job?"
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "I was growing up during the Clinton era and and then basically when I was in Middle School, 9/11 happened."
STUCKEY: "Do you have any knowledge whatsoever about how our political system works? Yikes! Does that make you a little bit nervous? Put socialism into your own words."
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "Unprecedented concentration of wealth at the very top, tippy top of the 1%."
STUCKEY: "Wow, I'm kind of surprised to hear you admit that. It sounds like what's going on in socialist Venezuela. What do you think about what's going on in Venezuela?"
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "Just an increasing crisis of humanitarian condition. And to me, it would just be completely unacceptable if that happened on our shores."
STUCKEY: "Well, couldn't that happen here if we adopted socialism?"
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "It's hard to say what direction that takes. I am not the expert on geopolitics."
STUCKEY: "Didn't you major in international relations in college?"
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "Middle Eastern politics is not exactly at my kitchen table every night."
STUCKEY: "Venezuela is not in the Middle East."
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "I may not use the right words. [laughter]"
STUCKEY: "[laughter] How do you respond to the people who say that socialism has never worked?"
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "Capitalism was the most efficient and best economy perhaps."
STUCKEY: "Abject poverty is at the lowest level it's ever been because of capitalism."
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "Well, I think the numbers that you just talked about is part of the problem."
STUCKEY: "I don't understand."
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "Oh, um.."
STUCKEY: "So, what do you hope to accomplish when you're in Congress?"
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "This is a really good question."
STUCKEY: "So what is it?"
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "I just think that's the wrong question."
STUCKEY: "Okay. So, why should voters vote for you?"
OCASIO-CORTEZ: "You vote, it's democratic."
STUCKEY: "Well, this has been enlightening. Thank you so much for coming on."
