Chris Swecker: ‘No One Has Done More To Politicize the FBI than Jim Comey’
EXCERPT:

MCCAIN: "You said very incendiary things about my party this morning: It doesn't reflect all values, it's transactional, it's ego-driven, it's in service to his ego. I’m a Republican who has many issues with Trump but it's not reflective of my party as a whole. ... Why bring up politics now? No disrespect but what your take on the current Republican Party is, I’m more interested in what you know about national security. ... I just don't understand why are you so -- you sound like a political commentator to me more than --"" [crosstalk]

SMITH: "That was 'The View' co-host Meghan McCain calling out former FBI Director James Comey yesterday, blasting portions of his new book as too political. My next guest is a 24-year FBI veteran and says this media tour is proof that James Comey’s highest loyalty is to himself. Chris Swecker is a former assistant director of the FBI and joins me now. Good morning to you Chris, thanks for coming on the program."
SWECKER: "Good morning."
SMITH: "So first of all going back to that exchange there, she asked him a very important question. Why bring up politics now? Why -- why is he doing this?"
SWECKER: "That’s a good question and after I wrote that op-ed I bet I heard from four dozen of current and former FBI people who said they were glad that I was speaking out on this. Because no one has done more to politicize the FBI than Jim Comey in a system that was designed specifically to keep the FBI out of politics. Every step he has taken since July of 2016 has been to throw the FBI in the political firestorm where it doesn’t belong."
